this laptop can connect via other ADSL modems to internet but just with this TP_LINK modem it can not have internetin fact it now connect to wireless network "excellent" or "very Bob !after disabling authentication mode I restart Dad's laptop and now it has internet !!! what have u done to fix this issue? When they check the ip address on the computer it does not match the one physically on the modem. If the 2Wire modem has a built in wireless access point it is unlikely you will be able to place it in the bridge mode. So, I googled replacement for 192.168.1.1 and interestingly found this link: »support.earthlink.net/ar ··· ions.phpThen I used Safari to look at »192.168.1.1/setup & »192.168.1.1/zCfgPPP.html These go nowhere.

Go to the modem manufacturer site and type in the model or serial number and make sure you select the driver for you operating system. I went into network settings and disabled these two adapters.
