My Windows Vista can not solve the problem, fortunately the Windows XP solved the problem. At first I thought the drive was stuffed, so I swapped it - same problem. I write databases for ten clients, using > Access 2000. I know floppy's are old and almost no use now (except for installing WindowsXP when I need to use the F6 method). To start with, I thought the drive itself was knackered but after swapping it with a known working one, it did the same thing. I agree USB sticks are far superior but the floppy isn't quite dead yet!
