Harry Stumpf I solved one of the problems. Place the extracted contents in a folder named VS6SP6. Visual Vasic 6 applications run and the VB6 IDE installs and works too.

I have latest sp's on all. When the install failed, you were then left with bits and pieces of VB laying around, and no uninstaller. Footnote: if developing with ADO, be aware of this. I have a problem now and I hope someone can help as I have seen the same fault on the net but no direct solution has been found.
I've had success installing it by extracting the files from the SP6 installer, then running "setupsp6.exe" as an administrator. I tried to use another installer of Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 which I borrowed to my friend, and again I reformat my computer and installed Windows XP SP3 but not the You will have to test for yourself.
